Tuesday January 29th - looking for budding TV stars!
Tuesday, 29 January 2008
Today has been absolutely manic! I don't if it's because it's nearly the end of the month and people have promised themselves they'll start their planning properly in January or because of the piece in 'Wedding' which named Magic Dust the best wedding planners for 'Keeping Things Simple'! But, whatever it is, I've been rushed off my feet today and I love it!
A man called up this morning to book a 'Girls Night In' for April as he is going to propose to his girlfriend in March and wants to give her this as a present. What a thoughtful guy, I'm sure his soon-to-be fiance realises what a catch he is!
That phone call got me thinking about the number of ways in which 'Girls Night In' planning sessions have been booked over recent months. I've had brides booking them as a treat for their bridesmaids (a brilliant way of getting them on side early especially when the wine is flowing!). Couples have booked sessions and invited both mothers as a way of divvying up certain tasks and ensuring that their families don't feel left out at any stage.
But some of my favourite sessions have been with the couples themselves, and nobody else! With no interference from anyone, and nobody telling them what they should/must do, we very quickly find out what they do want, and what they don't want, and give them the confidence to plan the celebration they really want.
The key to these planning sessions is the key to everything we do at Magic Dust. It's about being flexible and giving couples a service that suits them, and only them. Who needs packages or wants to give someone a percentage of their total budget when they can work in a much more flexible, and transparent way, with Magic Dust?
I also found time today to speak with a contact at one of the big terrestrial TV channels who is researching for a documentary about weddings. They're looking to follow a couple, along with both mothers, to look at the role women play in planning weddings and how things have changed from generation to generation. It sounds really interesting and the chance to have a professionally shot film of your wedding day is a 'money-can't-buy' opportunity...
So, if you're getting married this year and would be interested in having an initial, no obligation, chat with this researcher, click here to email me and I'll put you in touch.
Until tomorrow,
