Tips to ensure happy, helpful bridesmaids - Tip 6 of 6

TIP 6

When it comes to bridesmaid gifts, remember that you shouldn't feel obliged to spend a fortune but a token of your appreciation for their support is always a good idea.

This may be a handwritten, heartfelt card or you may have the budget to buy a gift too. A piece of jewellery for them to wear on the day is an ideal gift and it doesn't have to be expensive.

Alternatively, you might want to arrange a girls night out for when you return from honeymoon and treat them to a pizza and a bottle of wine whilst you catch up on all the gossip!

Remember to do what feels right for you but never to let any support you have received go unappreciated.

We hope you've enjoyed our short series of tips about bridesmaids - keep your eye out for other topics over the next few months and please do contact us if you'd like us to cover anything in particular!

Until next time,

Tips to ensure happy, helpful bridesmaids - Tip 5 of 6

Tuesday, 13 October 2009

TIP 5

As for hair and make-up, it really is up to you. As long as you manage peoples expectations - so bridesmaids know not to expect to have their hair and make-up done by a professional - and you've chosen the right people to be your bridesmaids, this will be perfectly acceptable.

Have a think about whether you have a friend whose make-up always looks fantastic and ask her if she'd consider helping you out on the day.

Tips to ensure happy, helpful bridesmaids - Tip 4 of 6

Monday, 12 October 2009

TIP 4

Think about the celebration you are planning and how your bridesmaids outfits will fit in with that. If you're going for a relaxed feel, an eclectic mix of bridesmaid dresses, perhaps tied together by everyone wearing the same shoes, will look great.

There's nothing wrong with asking your bridesmaids to wear a dress they already own to keep costs down. Chances are they'll feel more comfortable in something they chose themselves anyway!

Tips to ensure happy, helpful bridesmaids - Tip 3 of 6

Sunday, 11 October 2009

TIP 3

A small gesture can mean the world to people - we've seen close friends honoured with special buttonholes that mark them out from 'normal' guests and always evoke a positive response, as well as a few tears of joy!

You don't have to ask everyone to be your bridesmaid but you can make those closest to you feel very special with a little bit of thought, and without spending lots of money.

Tips to ensure happy, helpful bridesmaids - Tip 2 of 6

Saturday, 10 October 2009

TIP 2

If you do have more than 1 best friend and are finding it hard to choose, ask them to play different, but equally important, parts in your day. Readings, liaison with the venue in the run up to the wedding, organising entertainment for any children at the wedding - these are all tasks that good friends will be delighted to help out with.

Tips to ensure happy, helpful bridesmaids - Tip 1 of 6

Friday, 9 October 2009

We are often asked - by brides and by the media - for our tips for ensuring that you pick the right bridesmaids, make them feel special but also are able to ensure that they do exactly what they're supposed to do... Support you on and in the run-up to the most important day of your life! So we thought we'd bring our favourite tips to you over the next 6 days - 1 quick helpful tip per day. Enjoy!

TIP 1

Don't feel pressured into asking too many people. One incredibly organised, willingly helpful and supportive bridesmaid is worth a million times more than 5 friends who spend more time fretting about their own hair and make-up than they do about helping you out!

Monday January 28th - Magic Dust & Magic radio, the perfect couple!

Monday, 28 January 2008

Today I met with my partners at Magic radio, discussing how my role as their resident online wedding planner will grow during 2008!

It's always fun popping in to Magic radio's headquarters in London - I can't help getting a little bit starstruck as, apparently, there are always stars in the building - but I haven't even caught a glimpse of Dr Fox yet!!!

My partnership with Magic radio began more than a year ago when they approached me to work with them to develop a 'Wedding' section on their website. They appreciate the value of wedding planning the magicdust way, the advice and experience that Magic Dust can offer their listeners as well as visitors to their website, and consequently we work very well together!

Why not visit Magic radio's website, and Magic Dust's section in particular, by clicking here

My day was not solely taken up with the Magic radio meeting. A day in London gives me the opportunity to catch up with valued suppliers, and to grab a coffee with a couple of brides. I like to make myself as available as possible to the couples we're working with, often by phone and email, but if I'm going to be close to where they live or work I will always call and see if they fancy a quick coffee. This is just the way we do things - we wouldn't dream of charging for these impromptu meetings so couples don't feel obliged to meet us, but they know we'll always let them know if we're about!

Don't forget that the latest edition of Magic Dust's 'Tips & Advice' email newsletter will be on its helpful way out very soon, so if you haven't signed up for it already either click here or fill in your details in the boxes on the top right of this website.

Until tomorrow,

Tammy Willson wedding planner coordinator

Sat & Sun Jan 26th & 27th - Magic Dust in the press, twice!

Sunday, 27 January 2008

The current issue of 'Wedding' magazine features Magic Dust not once but twice!

A quiz has been devised by the magazine to help couples decide if they need a wedding planner. Once the quiz is completed you can check to see how you could benefit from working with a wedding planner and then 'Wedding' give you the "lowdown on some of the best wedding planners in the business".

I am thrilled that they judged Magic Dust as being the 'Best for... Keeping Things Simple' - I couldn't have put it better myself!

Wedding magazine Magic Dust testimonial

If you haven't already got it, be sure to pick up the Feb/March issue of 'Wedding' (on sale now).

Magic Dust's second mention in 'Wedding' is even more exciting (in my humble opinion). One of the lines on the cover of the magazine is, "The Experts - Advice & tips from the top" and, if you turn to page 70 you'll see my picture and advice!

Tammy Willson in Wedding - Expert's Tips and Advice

I must admit to being especially excited about appearing next to Stuart Weitzman who makes the most fantastic shoes (a rather beautiful silver pair of his are in my wardrobe!!!). It's always great to be approached by one of the country's best bridal magazines and asked to contribute. It's the perfect way to make more people aware of Magic Dust's refreshing, simple and invaluable approach to wedding planning - I'm always happy to give my tips and advice as I know the enormous difference they can, and have, made to couples planning their wedding celebrations - click here to go to our tip & advice page.

So, it's coming to the end of January and the end of my daily blog. It's been so much fun writing it and I really hope you've enjoyed reading it. I'm planning to write a weekly blog from February as the feedback we've had has been incredibly positive. I'd love to know what you think too so do please click here to send me an email and tell me what you've particularly enjoyed reading about and what you'd like to hear more about in my weekly blog!

Until tomorrow,
